The Michigan City man pulled from Lake Michigan off Washington Park Beach on Saturday has died, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reporting.

Christian Rosete, 25, passed at 11:59 p.m. Sunday at Franciscan Health Michigan City, DNR said.

Rosete was swimming in Lake Michigan with family members when he was overcome by waves and failed to resurface. He was subsequently pulled from the water by Michigan City firefighters and good Samaritans.

“It was ‘red-flag’ conditions at the time of the incident, meaning no swimming was allowed in the area due to dangerous water conditions,” DNR said.

Indiana Conservation Officers are conducting an investigation of the incident.
