Man found in Boone ditch victim of gunshot police say

The Porter County Sheriff’s Police is investigating the death of a man whose decomposing body was found on Monday near Hebron as a homicide.

According to police, an autopsy conducted on Tuesday determined that the man--either white or Hispanic--died of “an apparent gunshot wound.”

But the PCSP released no further information about the status of its investigation.

The body was found around 5:11 p.m. Monday, in Boone Township, is about three feet of water in a 90-degree elbow turn in a culvert on C.R. 500W, between C.R. 900S and C.R. 1000S.

Coroner Chuck Harris told the Chesterton Tribune on Tuesday that the body was found nude and may have been in the culvert “for several months.”
