Man exits Jeep on I-94, hit and killed by car

A Sawyer, Mich., man was killed on Saturday after stepping in front of an oncoming vehicle on I-94 in Porter County, the Indiana State Police said.

The victim was identified as Bradley A. Miner, 36.

According to police, at 1:15 a.m. Miner parked his 1999 Jeep Wrangler on the shoulder of westbound I-94, at the 29 mile marker just east of the scales, for unknown reasons. Miner then left his vehicle with some of his personal belongings inside and stepped out in front of a 2005 Buick LaSabre, driven by a Gary man and traveling in the middle lane, police said.

Miner was struck and pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma by a deputy with the Porter County Coronerís Office, police said. The driver of the Buick was not injured

The right and middle lanes of westbound I-94 and the entrance ramp to the scales where closed until approximately 4 a.m.
