A Hobart motorist was arrested Sunday on multiple charges after ditching his
vehicle on I-80 in Lake County, the Indiana State Police said.
According to police, at 8:27 p.m. Daniel G. Keen, 39, was westbound on I-80,
near the 12.9 mile marker east of Central Ave., when he advised that he was
forced off the road by a semi. Keen’s 1993 Geo Tracker left the roadway to
the north and came to rest stuck in a water-filled ditch, police said.
Keen was able to exit the vehicle and make his way to the shoulder, where a
trooper made contact with him.
“When asked where he was coming from, Keen stated he was coming from home,”
police said. “When asked where he was going, he stated ‘I’m going home.’”
Keen tested positive for the presence of narcotics and was arrested on
charges of operating while intoxicated, possession of a Schedule II
substance, and driving while suspended-prior, police said. He was
transported to Lake County Jail.
