The Porter County Sheriff’s Police is investigating the burglary of Liberty
Intermediate School at 50W 900N and the theft of multiple iPads.
According to police, sometime between 10 a.m. July 19 and 2 p.m. Tuesday
someone forced entry into the school—through the access door on the
roof—then removed the door to Room 110, pried open three Power Sync
cabinets, and stole an undetermined number of iPad2s and Mac iBooks.
Police said that the door to Room 110 was actually taken off its hinges and
stolen along with the tablets and laptops. Police also said that a garbage
can was found propping open the staircase door.
The replacement cost of the missing electronic gear had not yet been
determined, police said, but the value of the missing classroom door was
$1,000. Damage to the exterior door and cabinets was estimated to total
$4,100.
