Liberty Township Volunteer FD seeking new recruits; apply now for academy

The Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department is looking for future firefighters to help serve the community.

The Northwest Indiana District 1 Firefighter Recruit Academy is slated to begin Tuesday, Feb. 5, and will last approximately six months. The academy meets three times a week in the evening hours and students will master both the mental and physical skills necessary for the job.

Applicants can expect to learn skills in life-saving CPR, structural firefighting, hazardous material awareness and operations, technical rescue awareness, and many more skills.

Recruits must be at least 18 years of age to apply and have a reliable means of transportation.

Applications can be picked up at the LTVFD station, located at 47W 900N, just across the street from the Liberty Schools.

Interested candidates are encouraged to get their application in as soon as possible.
