Liberty man surprises two burglars at his residence

A Liberty Township resident arrived home early this morning to find a burglary in progress, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.

According to police, at 4:25 a.m. the man returned to his home in the Liberty Farm Mobile Home Park to find two male subjects inside. He “fought one of the subjects outside of his front door” before both of them fled the scene, the resident advised. One of the subjects referred to the other as “Octavious” and the resident recognized Octavious as a co-worker, he further advised.

Missing from the residence were $1,000 in cash and an empty safe.

 

Jackson home burglarized and cash, shotgun stolen

The Porter County Sheriff’s Police is investigating the burglary on Wednesday of a residence in the 1000 block of North County Line Road in Jackson Township.

According to police, sometime between 7 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. someone kicked in the home’s front door, then “spent time going through things.” Removed from the home were a 60-inch Sanyo television, a 50-inch Panasonic TV, a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun, and $300 in cash.

Police estimated the total loss at $3,100.
