Lane closures through November on I-94 at Toll Road exit

Back To Front Page

There’ll be a new choke point on I-94 in Lake County, beginning Monday, April 17, and remaining in effect through November, as crews undertake a bridge project at the Indiana Toll Road (Exit 16), the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced.

Drivers should expect lane closures between mile markers 15.8 and 16.3 for the duration of the project, as crews “remove and replace the I-94 bridge deck over the Indiana Toll Road and reinforce the concrete columns under Ind. 51,” INDOT said.

“During the project, through traffic will always be maintained on I-94 but will be reduced to two lanes in each directions at times,” INDOT said.

INDOT is urging motorists “to remember that this is an active work zone and to slow down prior to entering the construction area” and to “expect periodic delays and allow extra time for trips through this area.”

“Drivers should pay close attention to the signs in the work zone, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment,” INDOT added.

Drivers can monitor road closures and traffic alerts at any time via the INDOT Northwest District social media channels via www.Facebook.com/INDOTNorthwest or Twitter @INDOTNorthwest

Or visit www.trafficwise.in.gov for INDOT’s TrafficWise Traveler Information Service.
