A two-semi accident early this morning congested the commute on I-80/94 in Lake County, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 3:45 a.m. trucker Jeanne Marie Childs, 57, of Eaton Rapids, Mich., was westbound on I-80/94 when she sustained a flat tire on her box trailer and parked it on the outside shoulder near Calumet Ave.

The flat was being changed by a private vehicle maintenance company and three orange reflective emergency triangles were placed behind the rig when a second trucker, Suad Selimagic, 42, of Sterling Heights, Mich., for unknown reasons left the roadway and sideswiped Childs’ trailer.

The maintenance employee managed to run out of the way before the crash and escaped injury, as did Childs and Selimagic, police said.

Selimagic was issued a citation for unsafe lane movement, police said.

The right lane was closed for approximately two hours for off-loading the contents of Childs’ trailer.
