Two motorists were injured on Saturday in a three-vehicle accident on an I-80/94 off-ramp in Lake County, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 3:30 a.m. Christine Frost, 27, of Hammond, was eastbound on I-80/94 when she changed lanes to exit the interstate at Grant Street and struck a second vehicle. Frost then spun out and hit an impact attenuator, causing her 2016 Ford Focus to travel back into the eastbound lanes and collided with a semi-tractor trailer.

The second vehicle, a 1998 Ford E-150 van, was driven by Curtis Hicks, 58, of East Chicago. The semi was driven by James E. Wells, 65, of Falmouth, Ky.

Frostís Focus came to rest facing north and blocking the eastbound Grant Street exit ramp, which was closed for nearly two hours, police said.

Frost and Hicks were transported to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary with non-life threatening injuries, police said, while Wells escaped injury. All three were wearing their seatbelts, police added.
