A trucker was cited on Wednesday after rolling his trailer on an I-80/94 on-ramp in Lake County, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 2:58 p.m. Robert W. Kelly, 43, of Port Huron, Mich., was on the ramp from northbound I-65 to westbound I-80/94 when he took the turn too fast, causing his load to shift and his trailer to roll onto its side.

Kelly’s tractor remained upright, however, and there was no loss of his load, 42,450 pounds of bagged feed seed, police said.

Kelly--who was transported to Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart with non-life threatening injuries--was issued a citation for speed too fast and for false log, police said.

Police added that Kelly was placed out of service.

He was driving from CDW Consulting LLL of Port Huron, Mich., and was en route to Port Huron from Remington, Ind.

The right lane of the on-ramp was closed for several hours, as it was necessary to offload each bag of feed from the trailer by hand, police said.
