ISP: Three injured in I-94 accident in Lake County

A three-vehicle crash on I-80/94 in Lake County sent three people to local hospitals on Thursday, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 4 p.m. Elisha Charles, 32, of Riverdale, Ill., was westbound on I-80/94, half a mile east of Calumet Ave., when for unknown reasons she lost control of her 2015 Chevrolet Cruze, which spun across the westbound lanes and struck a 2007 Honda Accord driven by Rebecca Kunstman, 38, of Geneva, Ill., who was traveling in the left lane.

Kunstmanís Accord then hit the concrete median barrier on the inner shoulder, while Charlesí Cruze spun back to the right, where it collided with a 2001 Lexus driven by Steven English, 56, of Dublin, Ohio.

All three vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed, police said.

Cisroe Brown, 26, of Markham, Ill., a passenger in the Cruze, was transported to Saint Margaretís Hospital in Hammond with a dislocated/broken collarbone, police said.

Kunstman was transported to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary with a broken arm, while her passenger Hannah Gagnepain, 15, of Geneva, Ill., was also taken to Methodist with complaint of pain, police said.

Neither Charles nor England was injured.
