A motorcyclist died early Sunday morning when he lost control of his bike and hit an informational sign on I-80/94 in Lake Station, the Indiana State Police said.

The victim was identified as Keith Taylor, 58, of Lakeland, Fla.

According to police, at 4:10 a.m. Taylor was eastbound on I-80/94 with several other motorcyclists when they missed their exit for I-65. Police said that Taylor, operating the lead motorcycle in the group, a 2016 Indian, was attempting to exit onto southbound Ripley Street for a turn-around when he cut back across the white-lined gore area, lost control, entered a grassy area separating the Ripley Street ramp from I-80/94, and hit an informational sign.

Taylor went airborne and was ejected from his motorcycle, police said. Taylor--who was not wearing a helmet--was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma at Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary, police said.
