A Lake County Sheriff’s Police officer has been charged with official misconduct, the Indiana State Police said.

Sam Orlich Jr., 43, of Crown Point, was charged with official misconduct on Thursday, following an ISP investigation which began on Sept. 19, 2013, when a 37-year-old Lowell woman made a sexual misconduct allegation against him at the Lowell ISP post.

Orlich has been on administrative leave during this period, police said.

Orlich was booked into the Lake County Jail and released after posting a cash bond today, police added.

Official misconduct is a Class D felony punishable by a term of six months to three years.
