A LaPorte County council member has been charged with residential entry, the Indiana State Police is reporting.

According to the ISP, LaPorte County Council Member John Sullivan, 57, of Wanatah, voluntarily surrendered himself at the LaPorte County Jail on Friday, following an ISP investigation which began in May.

“During the preliminary stages of the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect is an elected councilman in LaPorte County,” ISP said. “During the course of the three-months long investigation, it was revealed that Mr. Sullivan was seen entering a residence that was not his own in the town of Wanatah.”

The ISP subsequently filed a charge of residential entry against Sullivan.

Sullivan was processed at the LaPorte County Jail, then posted at $750 bond.
