A jack-knifed semi
closed the northbound lanes of I-65 for two hours this morning in Jasper
County, the Indiana State Police is reporting.
police, at 5:35 a.m. trucker Amandi N. Chioke, 45, of Round Lake, Ill., was
northbound on I-65 when, two miles north of the Remington/Rensselaer exit,
he lost control on the icy road surface. Police said that Chioke’s box
trailer-rig left the roadway, and crashed into a center median barrier
cable, causing extensive damage to his Volvo tractor and to approximately 50
yards of median cable.
The tractor then
traveled back onto northbound I-65 and into a ditch on the east side of the
road, with his trailer blocking both lanes.
wearing his seatbelt--was transported to Jasper County Hospital in
Rensselaer with non-life threatening injuries.
Chioke was hauling
for Sala Motor Freight Line of Houma, Iowa, and his trailer was empty at the
time of the crash.
lanes were reopened at approximately 7:40 a.m.
