A Gary resident was badly injured Saturday in a two-vehicle accident on I-94 in LaPorte County, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 7:31 p.m. motorcyclist Cecil Roach, 43, of Gary, was westbound at high speed on I-94, near the 35 mile marker, when he rear-ended a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Douglas Williams, 44, of Plainfield, Ill.

Roach was ejected from his motorcycle and struck the rear of the Suburban before landing on the roadway, police said.

Roach--who was not wearing a helmet--sustained head and facial injuries and was airlifted from the scene to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, police said.

Williams was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
