An Elkhart woman
was killed on Monday in a two-vehicle accident on I-65 in Newton County, the
Indiana State Police said.
The victim was
identified as Anastasia J. Chapman, 23.
police, at 11:25 a.m. Chapman was northbound on I-65, two miles north of
Demotte, when for unknown reasons she failed to see that traffic ahead of
her had slowed and rear-ended a semi-tractor trailer.
pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the
semi, Derek G. Juhl, 28, of Brook, Ind., escaped injury, police said.
At the time of the
crash, traffic was backed up due to pothole repair taking place
approximately one mile north of the crash location.
