An Indianapolis woman was killed Saturday in a one-vehicle accident on I-65
in Jasper County, the Indiana State Police said.
The victim was
identified as Joyce McQuiller, 42.
According to
police, at 6:15 p.m. McQuiller as northbound on I-65 at the 226 mile marker,
four miles south of the Demotte exit, when for unknown reasons she lost
control of her 2001 Ford Explorer. Police said that McQuiller over-corrected
the Explorer, which then rolled onto its driver’s side, skidded a short
distance, left the roadway, and rolled several times before coming to rest
on the driver’s side in a ditch.
McQuiller—who
was wearing her seat belt—had to be extricated from her vehicle and was
pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The northbound
lanes of I-65 remained open during the investigation and cleanup, police
added.
