Home burglarized; two handguns stolen

Chesterton Police are investigating the burglary of a residence in the 400 block of Eagle Nest Drive.

According to police, sometime between 3 p.m. Jan. 14 and Tuesday someone pried open the front door, then removed a variety of items: miscellaneous jewelry, nine light bulbs, a bottle of Prozac, and two vintage German handguns, a .22 caliber model and a .25 caliber model.

No estimate of damage and loss was available.

Police did say that a witness observed a dark blue panel van--possibly a Chevrolet, late 1990s or early 2000s--parked in the home’s driveway at 10:30 p.m. Jan. 15, The van was occupied by two white male subjects, one of them around 6’ 0’’ in height and blond. The van then left the scene, southbound on Eagle Nest Drive.
