Here we go again: Indiana 49 repaving south of Toll Road begins April 24

Last summer the Indiana Department of Transportation re-paved Ind. 49 from U.S. Highway 12 to the Indiana Toll Road.

This summer: Ind. 49 from the Toll Road all the way south to U.S. Highway 30, as INDOT announced after deadline on Tuesday.

The project is expected to commence on Monday, April 24, and to be completed sometime late in August, INDOT said.

As happened last year, INDOT will close one lane in each directionÑsouth- and northboundÑwhile crews mill the old road surface and then replace it with fresh asphalt.

“Motorists should expect periodic delays and allow extra time for trips through this area,” INDOT said. “Drivers are urged to pay close attention to the signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.”

The project contract has been awarded to Walsh & Kelly Inc., INDOT added. Contract price: $3.9 million.
