Five injured in crash on Indiana 130 in Center Township

Five persons were injured on Monday in a two-vehicle accident on Ind. 130 in Center Township, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police is reporting.

According to police, at 2 p.m. a 28-year-old Valparaiso resident was westbound in the 200 block of Ind. 130 when he slid sideways into the eastbound lane, where his Dodge Dakota struck a 2008 Chevrolet Box truck driven by a 25-year-old South Bend resident.

The driver of the Dodge Dakota was transported to Porter County Regional Airport and from their airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with internal injuries. His front-seat passenger, a 28-year-old Valparaiso resident, was transported to Porter Regional Hospital and was reported in critical condition. His two back-seat passengers, a 23-year-old Demotte resident and a 7-year-old Valparaiso resident, were transported to PRH with complaints of pain. The PCSP has not released the names of any of those injured pending notification of family.

The driver of the box truck--owned by Fox Fire Safety of Mishawaka--was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Hobart with complaint of pain.

Ind. 130 between C.R. 250W and Froberg Road was closed to all traffic for approximately 90 minutes, police said.
