In an effort to
crack down on school bus stop arm violations; local police departments in
the Duneland School district area have been participating in the statewide
campaign, Stop Arm Violation Enforcement (S.A.V.E.).
This program is
intended to prevent violations through high visibility enforcement (HVE) by
following school bus routes to provide on the spot enforcement for

kicked off on August 14, police officers from Chesterton, Burns Harbor,
Porter, Porter County Sheriff and the Indiana State Police have been
following Duneland School buses. Along with Duneland's purchase of stop arm
cameras on 16 buses, this high visibility enforcement is helping to keep
Duneland students safe by increasing awareness on the roads.
After just two
weeks of school, area police officers from throughout the Duneland School
district have already ticketed at least 25 motorists with stop arm
