A dump truck driver
who forgot to lower his dump this morning struck a bridge on southbound I-65
in Lake County, in an accident which blocked both lanes, the Indiana State
police, at 6 a.m. truck Michael J. Hoff, 46, of Dyer, was southbound on
I-65--having just dumped a load at a construction site off U.S. Highway
30--when his dump, still in the up position, hit an overhead bridge near
caused the dump to detach from the tractor and overturn, blocking the right
lane, while debris was strewn across the interstate, blocking the left lane,
police said. Traffic managed to pass through the area on the inner shoulder
but both lanes were closed for more than 90 minutes, police said.
