The body of a 39-year-old Steger, Ill., man has been recovered after he went missing in Cedar Lake on Friday afternoon, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reporting.

According to DNR, at 4 p.m. Friday first-responders were dispatched to Cedar Lake after the man reportedly jumped from a boat and failed to surface.

A multi-agency search effort was immediately commenced including sonar, shore, and air searches. At 8:13 p.m. a Cedar Lake Fire Department boat conducting a sonar search found the victim’s body on a sonar image. A Cedar Lake Fire Department diver then entered the water and recovered the body in approximately eight feet of water.
