Chesterton Police have taken a report of vandalism at the Westchester Migratory Bird Sanctuary, located on South 11th Street opposite the rear entrance to Westchester Intermediate School.

According to police, sometime between Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16, someone threw into the Sanctuary’s pond two chairs and several laminated signs erected by a Chesterton High School biology class.

A commemorative plaque was also ripped off its frame, police said.

A Sanctuary board member advised police that actual monetary loss was minimal but did want the vandalism documented.
