Chesterton Police are investigating the smash-and-grab burglary of the
Fourth Street Emporium at 402 Broadway.
According to police, sometime between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 4:48 a.m.
Thursday someone broke a window at the entrance to the antique shop, then
entered the business and shattered two glass display cases containing rings,
bracelets, and other items of jewelry.
The pair of cases was rented by two different parties and the owners of the
Fourth Street Emporium were unable to say immediately what merchandise
specifically was taken and what its value is, police said.
The burglary is the second incident at the Fourth Street Emporium in less
than a week. Sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday and 1:39 p.m. Sunday someone
shot a BB at the business’ front door, causing an estimated $400 in damage.
