Police Department and other law enforcement agencies were searching this
morning for a male subject considered to be armed and dangerous, following
what is believed to have been a domestic incident on Ind. 49 during which
shots were fired.
Police Chief Dave
Cincoski told the Chesterton Tribune that, in the early morning hours
today, a man traveling northbound on Ind. 49, north of Indian Boundary Road,
fired shots at a second moving vehicle, in a domestic-related incident. No
one was injured, Cincoski said.
The suspect fled
the scene but subsequently crashed his vehicle near the entrance of Indiana
Dunes State Park, then fled on foot.
The suspect was
last seen east of Ind. 49, along U.S. Highway 12, and is thought to have
gone to ground in the woods.
The suspect is
considered armed and dangerous, Cincoski said.
The CPD did release
a photo of the suspect but Cincoski declined to identify him.
He was described as
a black male, 5 7 in height and 165 pounds in weight, last seen wearing
tan shorts or pants and a black tee-shirt.
