CPD: Driver of black Jeep sought in hit-and-run crash

Chesterton Police are seeking the driver of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee who left the scene of a four-vehicle accident on Sunday at the intersection of Ind. 49 and East Porter Ave.

According to police, at 3:33 p.m. the unknown driver of the Jeep rear-ended a second vehicle stopped on Ind. 49 and waiting to turn onto westbound East Porter Ave. The force of the collision drove the second vehicle into the rear of a third, and the third into the rear of a fourth.

The driver of the Jeep then fled the scene and was last seen westbound on East Porter Ave.

Police estimated total damage to the second, third, and fourth vehicles at up to $5,000.
