Two different
motorists escaped injury on Saturday after striking deer on Ind. 49,
Chesterton Police said.
The first crash
occurred at 6:35 a.m., police said, when Edward C. Toth, 63, of Valparaiso,
was northbound on Ind. 49 when, in the area of North Calumet Ave., a deer
entered his path of travel from the west side and he was unable to avoid
collision.
Police estimated
total damage to Toth’s 2004 Dodge Dakota at up to $5,000.
The second crash
occurred at 11:20 p.m., when Kevin W. Eversole, 45, of Liberty Township, had
just exited I-94 and was southbound on Ind. 49 when a deer entered his path
of travel.
Police estimated
damage to Eversole’s 2009 Dodge at up to $5,000.
