A Hobart man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession and production of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Indiana said.

Rickey D. Brown, Jr., 41--who previously lived in Florida--was sentenced to 360 months in prison and then to 20 years of supervised released.

“According to documents in the case, between Jan. 1, 2014 and April 29, 2015, Rickey D. Brown produced photographs of a 6- to 7-year-old child diagnosed with Autism, whom he persuaded to engage in sexually explicit conduct,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. “He admitted to molesting the child on more than one occasion while the child was in his care. Brown also possessed child pornography, including depictions of minors under age 12.”

“This 30-year sentence should send a strong message to all other sexual predators,” said U.S. Thomas Attorney Kirsch. “Children are the most vulnerable victims and my office will do everything in our power to prosecute and to seek appropriate sentences against sexual predators.”

This case was investigated by the FBI.
