A Michigan woman had a wild ride on Friday after she left I-94 and ended up in the front yard of a home on Marquardt Drive, the Chesterton Fire Department said.

Capt. Tony Coslet gave the following account to the Chesterton Tribune this morning. At approximately 8:30 p.m. the woman was westbound on I-94 when, possibly in the course of a medical event, she left the roadway to the north, “drove up the hill, threaded her way through some trees, and stopped in a front yard in the 800 block of Marquardt Drive.”

Coslet said that it was little short of a miracle that the woman managed not to hit any of the trees head on. “We would have had a very intense extrication if she had. Or possibly a fatality.”

The Indiana State Police responded to the scene but as of deadline today had not released a report.

The woman was transported to hospital.
