firefighters responded to a one-vehicle accident with injuries on Sunday in
the eastbound lanes of I-94.
Lt. Steven Himan
told the Chesterton Tribune that, shortly after 7:30 p.m., a vehicle
with four occupants overturned on I-94 just east of the Ind. 49 exit.
Initial reports indicated that a female occupantís legs had been pinned
beneath the overturned vehicle but, on their arrival, firefighters found
that the womanís feet had actually been protruding through the driverís side
assisted the woman out of the vehicle, Himan said. In the meantime, the
other three occupants had been able to exit the vehicle under their own
All four were
transported to hospital with unknown injuries.
The Indiana State
Police responded to the scene but as of deadline today the ISP had released
no information on the crash. Himan was unable to comment on the cause of the
crash except to say that the vehicle apparently struck the median wall.
Assisting at the
scene were a Burns Harbor FD ambulance and two Porter Regional Hospital
ambulances, Himan added.
The CFD cleared the
scene at 8:12 p.m.
