Multiple persons were transported to hospital early this morning after a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Ind. 49 and Gateway Blvd., the Chesterton Fire Department said.

Lt. Brent Valpatic told the Chesterton Tribune today that the CFD responded to the scene at 5:44 a.m. A total of five persons was transported to hospital--three to the Franciscan Alliance ER department on Indian Boundary Road, two to Porter Regional Hospital--and one of them had to be extricated, following the T-bone crash.

All injuries were non-life threatening, Valpatic said.

The Chesterton Police Department was still investigating the accident this morning.

The CFD cleared the scene at 6:45 a.m.
