The body of a 26-year-old Portage man believed to have fatally overdosed was found on Tuesday in a wooded area of the Pleasant Valley Trailer Park in Portage Township, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.

According to police, at 1:52 p.m. residents of the park were in the woods using a metal detector when they found the man. First-responders subsequently confirmed that the man was deceased.

The death is currently being investigated as a possible overdose.

Coroner Chuck Harris told the Chesterton Tribune that an autopsy was scheduled for today. Results of a toxicology screen are pending.

Harris added that there were no signs of trauma to the man, who was last seen by his family on Tuesday morning when he said that he was going fishing.
