Investigators were working to identify the body of a man found washed ashore
this morning on the beach in Beverly Shores, the Indiana Department of
Natural Resources said.
The body—that of a white male—was found around 7:30 a.m. today by a Florida
woman walking along the beach in the 600 block of Lakefront Drive, DNR said.
“The investigation is underway to identify the body and determine the cause
of death,” DNR said.
Also at the scene were National Park Service (NPS) rangers—the beach is part
of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore—and both Beverly Shores and Portage
Police officers, NPS said in its own statement, released separately this
morning.
No further information was available at deadline today.
