A Valparaiso man was stabbed in a Center Township residence on Monday evening in what the Porter County Sheriff’s Police is calling “a possible home invasion.”

According to police, the incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. in a home on Kinsale Ave. in the Waterford subdivision. The 18-year-old victim advised police that he didn’t know his assailant and nothing was reported missing from the residence.

“The victim’s name is not being released at this time pending further investigation, as he is still in the hospital in serious condition,” police said.

“Detectives are investigating this incident as a home invasion at this time,” police said.

Anyone with information on a possible suspect is urged to contact Det. Sgt. Hobgood at 477-3139.

Investigators are also interested in any video footage shot by home surveillance cameras in the Waterford subdivision.

“We do not wish to cause undue anxiety,” police added. “However, we remind you to watch over your neighbors in all parts of our community and call when you see something suspicious.”

The PCSP also invited citizens to visit its website at www.portercountysheriff.com for information on the department’s SafeCam program.
