Chesterton Police have taken the report of a resident who believes herself
to be the victim of an eBay scam.
According to police, the resident sold a carburetor for a Toyota truck to a
resident of Westbury, N.Y., for the sum of $320, and shipped it to the
buyer’s address after the purchase price had been transferred to the
resident’s PayPal account. The carburetor was duly delivered by UPS on June
11, the resident advised, and provided police with a copy of the tracking
detail.
Then the buyer informed eBay that he had never received the carburetor and
requested a refund. eBay for its part subsequently closed the resident’s
account and made a refund to the buyer, so the resident is out both the
carburetor and the money.
“eBay’s
resolution process is binding,” police said.
