ISP suspends permitting for out-of-state utility vehicles here to assist in recovery

Back to Front Page

The Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division has suspended the enforcement of some regulations, due to flooding in Northwest Indiana and wind damage in Southern Indiana.

Because many out-of-state utility companies will be entering or passing through Indiana to assist with recovery and repairs, the ISP will assist in the rapid movement of these company vehicles by suspending the credential and permit requirements. Any vehicles operating intrastate or interstate which are assisting with the repair of power and utilities will be exempted from the regulations for the duration of their storm-damage work in the state.

These utility company vehicles passing through Indiana en route to other states to assist with storm-damage repairs will also be exempted from these regulations.

The suspension of enforcement will remain in effect until the emergency no longer exists, the ISP said. Call the ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division at (800) 523-2226 or (317) 615-7373 for more information.
