A Chicago trucker was injured Tuesday after rolling his semi on I-80 and
losing the steel coil he was hauling, the Indiana State Police said.
According to police, at 1:52 p.m. Adil Raziev, 26, was entering eastbound
I-80 from southbound Broadway when he “took the curve on the ramp too fast.”
Police said that Raziev’s rig overturned and that the 44,780-pound steel
coil on his flatbed trailer broke free.
The coil knocked a chunk out of the concrete barrier wall.
Raziev was transported to Northlake Methodist Hospital in Gary with non-life
threatening injuries, police said.
The ramp was closed to upright the semi and trailer and recover the steel
coil, which was being delivered to an unspecified company in Duneland.
