Adam Maletta, 22, of Kouts, died at Loyola Hospital in Illinois due to injuries sustained August 7 when he crashed into a utility pole before coming to rest in the yard at 709 Baums Bridge Rd., near CR 700 South, Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.

The Porter County Sheriff’s Department accident reconstruction team concluded Maletta, driving an orange 2004 Nissan, was traveling south on Baums Bridge Rd at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car, leaving the roadway and struck the utility pole and a tree.

Maletta suffered severe injuries to his head. Alcohol was found in his system.
