The Lake County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the 4-year-old boy
who died on Monday after being thrown from a horse in the 700 west block of
C.R. 700N in Portage Township.
The boy was identified as Amier Sanchez of Chicago. Cause of death: blunt
force injuries.
The Coroner’s Office said in a statement released to the Chesterton
Tribune today that the boy was pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m. at St. Mary
Medical Center in Hobart.
Lt. Chris Eckert of the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said on Tuesday that
the boy was apparently thrown from a horse, which then fell on top of him.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.

A 4-year-old Portage Township boy died Monday after being thrown from a
horse, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.
The name of the victim has not been released and information is still
sketchy, but Lt. Chris Eckert of the PCSP told the Chesterton Tribune
today that the incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. in the 700 west block of C.R.
700N.
“He was thrown from a horse and the horse fell on him,” Eckert said.
“He was transported to (St. Mary Medical Center in) Hobart, where he died.”
