Portage Police are investigating the apparent attempted abduction of a
10-year-old boy on Thursday.
According to police, at 12:34 p.m. the boy was walking home from school in
the Savannah Heights subdivision when, near the intersection of Oglethorpe
Ave. and Macon Street, he was asked by an unknown white male subject in a
black vehicle of unknown make to get into the vehicle.
The boy refused to do so and continued walking, police said, at which point
the subject began to exit the vehicle and approach the child. The boy fled
the scene, made it home, and informed his parents, who then contacted the
PPD.
The man was described as around 6’ 0’’ in height, with dark hair and no
facial hair. The boy advised investigators that the man was drinking beer
and had a silver handgun at his hip. No description of clothing was
available.
