To help businesses and motorists become fully aware of the upcoming nine-month closure of I-65 beginning on or after March 1, the Indiana Department of Transportation has prepared a map showing details of the roadway sections and ramps which will be restricted during construction.

That map is available for viewing at www.in.gov/indot/div/projects/borman.

This season’s work is part of the second contract for the new construction interchange modification at I-65 and I-80/94, or the Frank Borman Expressway. This $46 million contract includes the reconstruction of I-65 in the area where it crosses I-80/94, the rehabilitation of six bridges, and the reconstruction of the Colorado Street bridge.

The closure will allow construction to finish in half the time as well as increase the safety of the traveling public and construction workers.

Access to businesses on 15th Ave. will remain open.

But motorists will be unable to access southbound I-65 from 15th Ave. The ramps from northbound I-65 to eastbound or westbound I-80/94, and the ramp from eastbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65 will remain open.

The closure will include:

•Approximately 1.5 miles of I-65 from the bridge over I-80/94 to 15th Ave.

•The ramp from westbound I-80/94 to northbound I-65.

•The ramp from westbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65.

•The ramp from eastbound I-80/94 to northbound I-65.

Detour routes for I-65:

•Northbound I-65 to 15 Ave. Take eastbound I-80/94 to northbound Ind. 51 to westbound U.S. 12/20 to southbound I-65 to 15th Ave.

•Northbound I-65 to U.S. 12/20. Take eastbound I-80/94 to northbound Ind. 51 to U.S. 12/20.

•U.S. 12/20 to southbound I-65. Take eastbound U.S. 12/20 to southbound Ind. 51 to westbound I-80/94 to the ramps at Ind. 53 (Broadway) to eastbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65.

Detour routes for I-80/94:

•Eastbound or westbound I-80/94 to northbound I-65. Take northbound Ind. 51 to westbound U.S. 12/20 to I-65.

•Westbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65. Continue on westbound I-80/94 to the ramps at Ind. 53 (Broadway) to eastbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65.

Detour routes for the Indiana Toll Road:

•Northbound I-65 to the eastbound Toll Road. Take eastbound I-80/94 to the eastbound Toll Road.

•Northbound I-65 to the westbound Toll Road. Take westbound I-80/94 to westbound Ind. 912 (Cline Ave.) to the westbound Toll Road.

•The eastbound Toll Road to southbound I-65. Take eastbound Ind. 912 to eastbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65.

•The westbound Toll Road to southbound I-65. Take westbound I-80/94 to the ramps at Ind. 53 (Broadway) to eastbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65.
