In January, Porter County Animal Control seized 82 dogs from the residence
of Donna Montoya at 190E 1400N in rural Westchester Township.
Today, Montoya was taken into custody on a warrant charging her with 11
counts of neglect of an animal and three of harboring a non-immunized dog,
the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said just before deadline.
In addition, police said, an additional 23 dogs were seized at her residence
this morning, three of them puppies.
All counts are misdemeanor charges.
Montoya was being held without bond at the Porter County Jail pending her
initial appearance before Porter Superior Court Judge Julia Jent, police
said.
