Carmie “Jake” R. Jacobson Jr., of Jackson Twp., died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at the Mary Bartz Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 56.

He is survived by his wife Julie; a son, Matthew A. Jacobson, of Arlington Heights, Ill.; a daughter, Amanda N. Jacobson, of Jackson Twp; two brothers, Herman W. (Barbara) Jacobson and Nels A. Jacobson, both of Lake Station, Ind., a sister, Jean E. (Elmo) Eddy, of Hudson, Fla.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a resident of Jackson Twp. for 25 years, a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton and a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #73 Chicago and Local #20 Gary, Ind. He was an active member of the Hoosier Mopar Old Car Association.

Funeral services, Father James Meade officiating, are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Mourning Friends and Family should gather directly at St. Patrick’s Church between 10:15 and time of service.

Private Family visitation is scheduled from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the family or a charity of the donor’s choice.
