Lillian Beyers service set

Former Chesterton resident Lillian C. Beyers of Hobart passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at Millers Merry Manor in Portage. She was 93.

She is survived by her son, James Beyers (Patricia) of Goodyear, Ariz.; daughters Judy Christensen ("Hap") of Creede, Colorado and Jackie Rogers (Joe) of Portage; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Irene Garber of Portage, Louise Losinski (Ed) of Michigan City, and Joyce Alessandrini (John) of Sun City, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Beyers; daughter Mary Jane Jamison; grandson Greg Beyers; brother Clem Povlock; and sister Christine Senderak.

A longtime Hobart resident, she retired from McGill Manufacturing. She was a member of St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary and St. Bridget Catholic Church where she had been active in St. Anne’s Confraternity.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 19, beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, and then proceeding to St. Bridget Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino celebrating the Mass.

Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. St. Anne’s will pray the Rosary Sunday at 3 p.m., and a St. Mary’s Auxiliary service will be at 3:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Valparaiso.
