Grace Wratten dies at 80

Grace A. Wratten, age 80, of Chesterton, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso.

She was born on May 29, 1928 in Butler County, Pa. the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Krause) Scott both of whom preceded her in death.

On May 15, 1954 in North Hollywood, Calif., she married Fred Wratten, who preceded her in death in 1987.

She is survived by sons, Chris (Paula) Wratten of Chesterton and Tim (Helen) Wratten of Valparaiso; brother, John (Alice) O’Connor of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters, Catherine (Royce) Erwin of Denver, Colo. and Kerry (Mandly) O’Connor and Barney Griffin of Mesa, Ariz. and two grandchildren Lisa and Elliott Wratten.

Grace was also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis O’Connor.

Grace worked for 22 years for the Town of Chesterton as the Assistant Deputy Clerk. She attended St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

A funeral service, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 24. Interment will be in Chesterton Cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Grace may be made to the family.
