Florence R. Baudouine, 87, of Valparaiso, formerly of Liberty Twp., passed
away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Whispering Pines Health Care Center,
Valparaiso.
She was born July 13, 1921 in Chicago, the daughter of Edwin C. and Fleeta
Marie (Scobey) Peterson, both of whom preceded her in death.
On December 29, 1945 in Chicago, she married Charles A. Baudouine, who
survives.
She is also survived by children, Carol (Fred) Callaway, of Highland, John
Charles (late Cheryl) Baudouine, of Bull Head City, Ariz., David Allen (late
Jackie) Baudouine, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Peter Edwin (Dawn)
Baudouine, of DeMotte; grandchildren, Karen Baudouine, of Ariz., Mary
Callaway, of Merrillville, Fred Callaway, Jr. of Highland, Mike (Jena)
Baudouine, of Fishers, Nicole (Allan) Roach of Hawaii, Francesca Baudouine,
of Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Lexi, of Fishers and nieces
and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Peterson, Jr. and
daughters-in-law, Cheryl and Jackie.
Florence was a long-time active member of 1st United Methodist Church in
Chesterton, a member of United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Bowen
High School, Chicago, graduate of Chicago Normal Teachers College, and
received her master’s degree from Indiana University.
She was retired from the Portage School System where she taught second grade
then music in the elementary grades. She was a member of Indiana Retired
Teachers Association. She loved music, and was an accomplished pianist,
often played the organ at Sunday evening Vespers at Pines Village. Florence
will be dearly missed by family and friends that loved her.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, April
4 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.
A memorial service, Pastor Chris Newman-Jacobs and Pastor Cathy Allison
officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17 at the 1st United Methodist
Church, 434 S. 2nd St. Chesterton.
The family prefers memorials to 1st United Methodist Church, VNA Hospice
Center, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, or to the American Diabetes
Association.
