Visitation Tuesday for Betty A. (Flatz) Babcock

Betty A. (Flatz) Babcock, age 90, lifelong resident of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

She was born on February 20, 1930, in Chesterton, to John and Mary (MaKovec) Flatz.

Betty is survived by children, Gregory Babcock of Chesterton, IN, Kathleen Babcock of Sarasota, FL, Timothy (Judy) Babcock of Evansville, IN, Robert "Bob" (Tara) Babcock of Bloomington, IN, and Maria (Lance) Morris of Chesterton, IN; grandchildren, Paul (Nolita) Babcock, Erik (Lauren) Babcock, Mark (Samantha) Babcock, Kyle (Ashley) Babcock, Jenna (Jerod) Lucas, Jaci (Adam) Pabst, Shelby Babcock, Jake Babcock, Sydney Morris; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Abbie, Ally and James; nephew, Mark (Gayle) Dickinson, niece, Marcee (Bruce) Cwiakala and many more nieces and nephews, also Carol Quinn a special friend and caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nelson F. Babcock, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Jo Anne Winey-Babcock; siblings, Joseph Flatz, Stephen Flatz, Mary Crisman, John Flatz, Sam Flatz and Angie Dickinson.

Betty graduated from Chesterton High School Class of 1948. She was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a member of Junior Women’s Club. Betty enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino with her friends. She enjoyed the outdoors; riding her bike and visiting the dunes. She loved attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Betty was a die-hard Chicago Bulls fan. She also loved traveling and visiting her daughter in Florida.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.

Private Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, with burial at Chesterton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF, PO BOX 37920, Boone IA 50037.
